About Our Invitation

iris

The basic concept comes from an original invitation that was created by the bride’s mother, Barbara Aibel Henston for her wedding to Louis Henston. The iris and champagne art was handpainted and hand-lettered by Barbara. This invitation was scanned and a script-style font was chosen to approximate the original look and feel for the save the date card.

We had a lot of help in making our invitations. We took advantage of a lot of advice from the groom’s sister, Deb Levene and the bride’s sister-in-law, Sara Aibel. The staff at Papersource in Cambridge was also very helpful.

Deb lent her paper skills to the operation and helped with the invitation assembly. The envelopes were addressed by our very good friend, Maria Guererro, whose Catholic school education was certainly not wasted.
The full illustration was used for the interior panel of the invitation itself and sections of it are repeated in various parts maintaining the yellow iris motif throughout the whole invitation.
